I have suffered from nocturnal calf and foot cramping for over two years. The pain is so intense I find myself unable to keep from screaming and crying. I run warm to hot water directly over the painful area while sitting on the edge of the bathtub. From start to finish (finish meaning the pain in finally gone) it almost always lasts ten horrible minutes. THIS NEXT PIECE OF INFORMATION IS EXTREMELY IMPORTANT... I love chocolate, and often after dinner I would eat a candy bar, or ice cream, or fudge...not a lot, but almost every night. About three months ago, we didn't have any chocolate in the house, so I couldn't eat any. That night, I did not experience any leg cramping. So I tried again the next night; no chocolate. Again, no leg or foot cramping. I did not eat any chocolate after that, and I did not have any leg cramping at all. To test this, I ate a couple of pieces of chocolate after dinner just once, and, like before, the leg cramps returned that night! Needless to say, I NEVER eat chocolate anymore, and my excruciating nocturnal nightmare cramping have not returned. Maybe this will work for you, too.
